By resolution of the citizen governor of the State, Mr. Félix Arturo González Canto, motivated by the severe damage caused by hurricane “Wilma” to the municipalities of Benito Juárez, Cozumel, Solidaridad, Isla Mujeres and Lázaro Cárdenas, a Decree which contemplates the following benefits and fiscal stimuli for all taxpayers domiciled in the abovementioned municipalities was published in the Official Gazette of the State Government on October 28, 2005, and effective as of the same date:
- Those taxpayers obliged to the payment of lodging tax will have the option of deferring the payment of the amount of the contributions generated during the months of October, November and December 2005 until the months of January, February and March 2006, respectively, without being subject to surcharges.
- Those taxpayers obliged to the payment of tax on wages will have the option to defer the payment of the contributions generated during the months of October, November and December 2005, in up to twelve partial payments during the year 2006 without surcharges.
- All taxpayers who wish to enter an agreement for partial payments for compliance with a fiscal obligation, may defer the payments corresponding to the months of October, November and December 2005, and reinitiate the calculation of the obligation starting January 2006 without surcharges.
- Those taxpayers which had entered agreements for partial payments for compliance with a fiscal obligation, may defer the payments corresponding to the months of October, November and December 2005 and reinitiate the calculation of the obligation starting January 2006 without surcharges.
- The payment of fees for the following state services will be condoned with 50% until December 31, 2005:
a. traffic and vehicle control;
b. registry and vehicle control;
c. Civil Registry;
d. Public Registry of Property and Commerce.
- The abovementioned benefits will be applied directly at the municipal tax offices in question at the time the corresponding payment is made.
- Additionally, the suspension of the calculation of deadlines for 15 days starting October 24 and up to November 11 determined for the filing of the means of defense of those taxpayers domiciled in the affected municipalities was resolved; that is, no term will run between the 24 and November 11, in favor of the taxpayers; such decree is published in the official electronic page of the State Secretariat of Treasury.
